Founded in 2004 and located in Ypsilanti, Mich., the Fortis Academy is an educational institution that offers classes to more than 680 students in kindergarten through grade eight. It organizes a variety of recreational activities and events, such as school carnivals, field trips, movie and dance shows and family fun nights. The school offers memberships for art, math and science clubs and the National Junior Honor Society and student council. It provides a range of sports activities that includes cross-country, soccer, volleyball, basketball and cheerleading. The Fortis Academy offers before- and after-school care programs. It conducts language arts, math, science and social studies classes. The academy offers instruction in reading, writing and English. The Fortis Academy is a part of National Heritage Academies, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools.
