The Hacienda School in Pleasanton is a private, non-sectarian institution which serves children ages 6 to 14 in year-round, full-day instruction. It's located on Stoneridge Drive, a few minutes east of Santa Rita Road. The school is part of the Palo Alto-based Early Learning Institute, which also operates child development centers for children in pre-school through kindergarten. Based on the Montessori approach, the curriculum incorporates activities that promote development and includes language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, foreign languages, physical education, art, technology, critical thinking and practical life skills classes. Its defining philosophy is to help students direct and manage their own learning through individualized experiences. The campus can accommodate 96 students, with 24 students per classroom and one teacher for every 12 students. A Chinese language and cultural immersion program, the Two Worlds Approach, is provided during after-school hours. This program is also available to outside students not enrolled at the school. Discounted tuition is available for families with multiple children enrolled.
