Holy Martyrs Armenian Elementary and Ferrahian High School was founded in 1964. The historic founding marked the establishment of the first Armenian educational institution in the United States. The Encino campus is next door to the Holy Martyrs Armenian Apostolic Church of Encino. The school shares the values cherished by the church and seeks to promote bilingual education and Armenian culture. The school curriculum follows the California State education framework, but also offers Armenian language and history courses. Holy Martyrs has been officially recognized by the University of California system for its high acceptance rate into colleges and universities.
