Central Pennsylvania Food Bank started as a one-day demonstration project on World Food Day in 1981 to address the needs of hungry families, and began permanent operation in 1982. The food bank distributes food and grocery products to more than 25 central Pennsylvania counties. Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is an independent entity with a board of directors consisting of community volunteers. The food bank is also a member of America s Second Harvest, a national food bank network that is comprised of more than 200 food banks and food-rescue programs. Its more than 43,000-square-foot warehouse includes storage, freezer and refrigeration space. Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is located in Harrisburg , Pa.
