In the year 1954, Paul and Dorothy Dawson founded Dorothy Dawson Food Products, Inc, a small, family owned concern in the batter and breading business. Over the next fifteen years, this business grew to include a pancake line as well as an excellent gingerbread mix. Then in 1973 their son, Phil, the current Company President, entered the business and developed a wide variety of products which today total over 700 items; batters, breaders, brownies, biscuits, cracker meals, waffle cones, donuts, cakes, pizza flours, spice blends, and stuffings to name a few. The quality of Dorothy Dawson mix is maintained by stringent controls over incoming raw materials and outgoing production. Not only is each production line continuously checked but the final product of each run of mix is tested to guarantee the quality before the mix ever leaves the plant. In conjunction with testing each product manufactured, Dorothy Dawson Foods has on going research and development program for new products as well as a continuing program for updating current mixes. The Research and Development program is particularly important since one of the primary goals is to provide the customer with mixes especially designed to his specific requirements. Customers are welcome to work with the laboratory staff to create to exact product required. Custom blending in small quantities is available only from Dorothy Dawson Foods. Interest in each customer individually, small or large, remains a corporate philosophy. Mixes are available either under a private label program or under the Dorothy Dawson Label. The product is packed in a variety of containers and sizes. Pricing on these mixes is well under name brand competition. Both FOB Jackson and delivered prices are available and price discounts are given for larger quantities. Biannual sales promotions, local brokerage and a plentiful supply of free samples create an atmosphere that will be mutually beneficial.
