Garden City Community Church was first organized, financed and staffed by the Congregational Christian denomination in 1929. The first church building was a house at 66 Wellington Rd. in Garden City. John Gardner was the elected senior clergy from 1931 until he retired in 1945. James Gettemy was then elected senior clergy. Dr. Gettemy's leadership helped Garden City Community Church's congregation grow. The present church is located at 245 Stewart Ave. Prayer services are held every Sunday and Tuesday.
