Glacier Hills Elementary School of Arts and Science is a District 196 Magnet School. The school looks at each day of reading, writing, math, science and social studies through the lens of arts and science, which provides for a unique and interesting learning environment. Glacier Hills students are offered many special programs, such as classes in a visual arts studio with an arts specialist. Students also participate in vocal and instrumental classes with corresponding specialists, It is equipped with a set of guitars and world drums. Students also get the opportunity to hunt for fossils and are provided real lab experiences in science classes. A federal grant provided the school with a great amount of technology, and the entire staff has been provided with extensive training. Classrooms feature SMART boards, and there is a computer lab and two wireless lab stations for students to use. Also, Glacier Hills has a top-notch DCDD - SPMI (Severely Profound Mentally Impaired) Needs Progam, and students have graduated to the DCDD-MW program within the school.
