Our school was founded in 1940 as the Yeshiva of Hartford. The Bess & Paul Sigel Hebrew Academy of Greater Hartford is the oldest orthodox Jewish day school in the United States. Originally located on Cornwall Street in Hartford, it moved to its present facility in 1974. We are located on eight acres of spacious athletic fields and playgrounds in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The modern architecture of the building and its synagogue with domed ceiling are reminiscent of the city of Jerusalem. The warm and welcoming facility features a comprehensive library and media center, fully equipped computer and science laboratories, music room, gymnasium, auditorium and cafeteria. Our students represent the entire spectrum of Jewish observance. From Ganenu ( the two-year old Program ) through 8th grade, students come from a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
