Opened in 1968, Michigan International Speedway is a race track that conducts various racing events and championship nights. It covers an area of more than 1,400 acres and has a reserved seating capacity of over 80,000 seats. The track has steel and foam energy reduction walls to make it safer for drivers. With an 18 degree banking and more than 70-foot wide sweeping turns, Michigan International Speedway provides three and four grooves. It features structure and ticket gates, vendor and display areas and concession stands. The track s skylounge area has a press box, over 15 suites, and timing, scoring, television and radio broadcast areas. Michigan International Speedway employs announcers, track handicappers, race directors and technical inspector, as well as flaggers, corner workers and track crew.
