Uniform Division Chief s office consists of 1st Detail Captain, 2nd Detail Captain and 3rd Detail Captain. It is one of the largest divisions in the South Bend Indiana police department. The division has approximately 150 officers. Uniform Patrol Division Chief s office is acknowledged as the backbone of the police department and the division that is most judged by terms of its performance. The office provides K9 officers, supervisors and traffic or specialty unit cars. The Uniform Division also is responsible for several specialty patrol units, such as SWAT, civil unrest team, traffic and bike patrol units.
