Caito Fisheries began when John Baptist Caito immigrated to the United States from Sicily in 1885. He fished for salmon in the Sacramento River and processed them in Pittsburg, Calif., where he and his family started the Western Fish Company. The company is in its fourth generation of Caito family business. It process millions of pounds of crab, cod and snapper, as well as salmon at more than five locations along the West Coast. Products include salmon, swordfish, crab, sole, flounder, halibut, sablefish, rockfish, cod, shark and octopus. Items available wholesale include scallops, prawns, shrimp, mussels, oysters, clams, sturgeon, squid, tuna and catfish. Caito Fisheries maintains a location in Fort Bragg, Calif.
