GATEWAYS Summer School is a nonprofit, community-based organization that was formed in 1982. It offers courses for students who have mastered basics and are interested in learning new concepts. Sarah Anthony School provides the educational program for young people detained in Juvenile Hall. It provides education to more than 420 students. The school, probation, medical and mental health staff works in collaboration to improve the learning environment and services to students. It offers classrooms to students based on their living unit. All of its classrooms are multiage and multigrade and are staffed by teachers with either a multiple subject or single subject credential. The teachers provides by the school are trained in the area of literacy, including reading, writing, speaking and listening.
