The Treasure Hound is an upscale resale shop that offers paintings, collectibles, books, china, antiques and jewelry. The Treasure Hound benefits the Friends of Homeless Animals.
For over 60 years, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria has served as a community resource for homeless animals. The organization promotes responsible pet care through adoptions, education, spay and neuter assistance and community service and outreach. It operates the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, an open-admission facility that accepts any and all animals in need of homes. In addition to cats and dogs, the shelter also accepts and places rabbits, pigs, guinea pigs, birds, chinchillas, iguanas and many other animals.
SPCA is No-Kill humane organization dedicated to the principle that every life is unique and worthy of protection. Locally, some 200 volunteers assist in this non-profit group that receives no Federal or State funding. One of SPCA's most popular fundraisers is a 5-k "Fun Run" held in the spring. Regularly, more than 100 dogs and cats are up for adoption.
The Humane Society of Fairfax County (HSFC) is made up of over 100 volunteers who take in and take care of animals in need, host fundraisers, work at the society's thrift stores (one in Fairfax, one in Falls Church), educate the public on animal care, foster adoptable pets and more.
The society owns two buildings in Fairfax City, one holds offices and a small animal adoption center, the other is rented out to help fund the group. HSFC also owns a 13-acre farm in Centreville that is home to horses, dogs and other larger animals.

St. Francis Animal Hospital is the home of four very experienced and caring animal doctors. The hospital is a full service clinic that can provide services like spay and neuter, vaccines, and therapy complete with a therapy pool. There is emergency care for animals during business hours.
