Levin Porter Associates is an award winning architectural firm with a proud 49 year history of blending innovative and functional design with responsive client service. These services include master planning, programming, architecture, interior design, cost estimating, and with our consultants, the engineering and specialized technologies required for a complete project. As part of Culture Works recent "An Affair of the Arts" fundraiser, local designers were asked to design and build birdhouses to be auctioned off. Levin Porters design strove to create a three-dimensional interpretation of the Culture Works logo as well as create an object that can be distinctly identified as architectural. It was important that this object be representative of contemporary design and contain architectural language appropriate to the scale of the bird. Designed to accommodate the American Goldfinch, the size and shape was strictly driven by the birds preferred interior dimensions. Special thanks to Tom Joch and Cassady Woodworks, Inc for the expert craftsmanship, construction, and material. Kiser Elementary Wins National Award Levin Porter Associates was recognized for "Outstanding Architecture and Design in Education" for the Kiser PK-8 Elementary School in Dayton. Kiser was awarded a "Project of Distinction" designation and appeared in the June 2008 issue of School Planning & Managements Education Design Showcase. In the announcement, School Planning & Management stated, "Good designs dont just happen. They are created due to the hard work of the district, the architect and the community. Each project may be unique, yet they all share one common goal: to provide the best possible learning environment for all students at all levels of education. Your project, Kiser PK-8 Elementary School, has achieved this goal." Franklin Named Newest LPA Associate LEVIN PORTER ASSOCIATES INC has announced that Matthew T. Franklin AIA, LEED AP, of Kettering, has been named an Associate of the Firm. The announcement was made recently by Thomas B. Thickel AIA, the firms President. Franklin, who earned his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Masters of Architecture degrees from Miami University, joined the firm in 2002. He is currently serving as a Project Architect on several of the firms major educational facilities including recent projects for Centerville City Schools and Central State University. Recognized as a LEED Accredited Professional, he is also leading the firms LEED Silver Certification efforts on two current Dayton Public Schools projects. Franklin is an active member of the Dayton Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, a participant in the recent AIA 150 Initiative in Daytons South Park Neighborhood, and currently serves as a member of the Kettering Arts Council. The advancement to Associate recognizes Matts leadership and contributions to the firm, the profession, and the Community. says Thickel. LPA President, Tom Thickel AIA, has been selected as one of 32 community leaders to serve as a catalyst to help kick start an effort to grow a "creative class" in the Miami Valley. The movement is being sponsored by the Creative Region Initiative and will focus on attracting and retaining more "creative class" workers to spur our regional economy.
