Are you one of those people that have skills and talents in the visual arts but need a place that allows you to grow in your gift? The Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, located on Chicagos Gold Coast, is the place for you. It is a non-profit educational institution that consists of artists wanting to fine-tune their artistic skills through classes, workshops and exhibitions. We offer art classes in oil painting, drawing, watercolor and sculpture and have exhibitions all year round! We provide more than 60 hours per week of open studio sessions with live models. The Palette and Chisel is the premier institution for figure drawing, painting and sculpting. The Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts values our students growth. The new members join as Associate Members, then after one year they can become Artist Members with additional benefits and responsibilities. As an Associate Member, you will have the opportunity to master and develop some of your techniques you have already acquired in our open studio sessions. You will also receive discounts on classes, and if you have a teaching background you may be able to rent space and teach a class! As an Artist Member, you are able to exhibit your work in the galleries of our 1870s Italianate Mansion. invited to the award exhibition, the Gold Medal Show, as well as the chance to vote at regular quarterly membership meetings. R. S. Johnson Fine Art is celebrating its fifty-seventh year in its spacious Michigan Avenue gallery. The gallery specializes in museum quality works ranging from Old Masters to Impressionism and Modernism. Johnson’s expert staff has produced more than 160 scholarly catalogs and books, ranging from Old Master prints and drawings to the art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.Indicative of the quality of the works shown as well as the gallery’s academic nature, sixty-one museums have acquired artworks from R. S. Johnson Fine Art. Recent museum acquisitions include the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Art Institute in Chicago, The National Gallery of Canada and the Musée d’art et d’histoire in Geneva, Switzerland. The gallery is open M-Sat, 9am-5:30pm. Teachers and student groups are particularly welcome.
