Ultra Star Theaters has been in business in the Mission Marketplace since 1989. Located in the very back of the shopping center, this state of the art theater is a local hot spot. It is ornately decorated inside and out, making an outing to a movie a very classy experience. This Ultra Star has 13 theaters, all of which have stadium seating. It also has two entrance. Patrons can take an elevator from the main floor of the marketplace or they can drive around to the back and enter through there. Like most cinemas, Ultra Star is outfitted with a snack bar carrying candy, slurpees, popcorn, hot dogs, nachos and candy. This one even comes with a coffee bar and selection of juices.
The Surf Bowl is a fun, large bowling alley located along South Coast Highway. The Oceanside fun zone features glow in the dark bowling, as well as youth and adult bowling leagues. It also has laser tag inside and plenty of pool tables and arcade games, too. The interior is bright and open, with room shooting off the main bowling alley containing other fun activities. Private party rooms are available, as are concessions such as nachos and hot dogs. There is also a bar on site with a large selection of beers on tap. Built in 1956, The Star Theatre has become a staple of the community. Its large awning tells of current and upcoming shows, while its antique ticket kiosk provides patrons with a retro vibe that carries throughout the space. Stained Glass is located just south of downtown Oceanside, along South Coast Highway. It is owned and operated by artist Don Myers, who specializes in large and intricate stained glass windows. The site also offers restoration of worn or dilapidated stained glass pieces. Classes are also featured at the shop, including weekly workshops every Saturday. Myers specializes in providing custom windows for people and prides himself on being able to accomplish any picture or theme for a door window or large-format window. The California Surf Museum stands tall over Pier View Way near the breaking waves of downtown Oceanside. It features the rich history of surfing in a well sized museum that features everything from vintage suits to board to trophies and more. From its Polynesian heritage, the museum follow surfing throughout the ages with exhibits that literally pop out of the walls. Displays, videos, music and more are on exhibit within the museum, which is owned and operated by surfing enthusiasts. It is open daily and provides free admission on Tuesdays (only $3 otherwise). The Sunshine Brooks Theater is in downtown Oceanside along North Coast Highway. It provides a venue for original plays, music and comedy shows. The playhouse also offers classes and lessons for both music and acting. The interior is grand and inviting, with a classic theater charm throughout.
