Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee offers life saving care and life changing assistance to refugees in times of disaster and war. Based in Baltimore, Md., it serves more than 40 countries, providing emergency relief, relocating refugees and rebuilding lives. The committees work includes providing urgent supplies and health care, as well as protecting and empowering women and children, bringing public attention to neglected humanitarian emergencies, and much more. The International Rescue Committee encourages help through donations, fund-raising campaigns and volunteering, among others. Affiliated with the Womens Refugee Commission, some of its projects include helping the tsunami-affected communities in Indonesia and flood-affected victims of Pakistan. A Better Business Bureau accredited charity, it has received A+ from the American Institute of Philanthropy and the honor of being one of the top 10 Gold Star Charities by Forbes Investment Guide.

The Baltimore City Child Care Resource Center, also known as BCCCRC, is a private, nonprofit community organization. It offers services for parents, child care providers, employers, educators and policymakers. The organization is located in Baltimore and assists parents with child care techniques. The Baltimore City Child Care Resource Center provides information to parents on center-based care facilities, including kindergarten institutions, family child care units and schools. It also offers assistance to parents for choosing the appropriate child care service for children with special needs. In addition, the organization provides training and conducts workshops for child care providers. The Baltimore City Child Care Resource Center is a part of Maryland Child Care Resource Network, which is a project that strengthens child care.

The Maryland Society for Sight's mission is "to prevent blindness and preserve sight for Marylanders." It seeks to educate the general public on issues related to blindness and sight, improve existing laws to better serve the visual well-being of Maryland citizens, a better institution for reasons of prevention and generally mitigate the causes of blindness. They sponsor programs and events to make advances related to all such issues.
