This community organization seeks to protect and preserve property values. The PACC also encourages the formation of tenant associations. It was founded in 1964 by Reverend Richard Johnson, Amos Taylor and Furman Walls.
The Carroll Gardens Association is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing, along with workforce training, youth services, tenant services and benefits assistance, and seeks to spur economic development in southwestern Brooklyn. Neighborhoods served include Carroll Gardens, Red Hook, Gowanus, Sunset Park and the Columbia Street Waterfront District. The Carroll Gardens Association is a designated Neighborhood Preservation Company.
The Fort Greene Association (FGA) is a volunteer-run, non-profit neighborhood organization. The FGA represents the concerns of local businesses and residents, helping these parties to voice concerns to elected officials other organizations. The Van Westerhout Mola Sport Club is an exclusive organization of men from the town of Mola Di Bari in Italy. Members are required to have been born in the town of Mola Di Bari. Members enjoy social events in the club space, dinner dances and game night.
According to its official mission statement, the Brooklyn Tech Alumni Association exists, "[t]o support Brooklyn Technical High School as the premier specialized high school for science, technology, engineering and mathematics by harnessing the intellectual and financial power of Tech alumni." To that end, the organization has raised more than $15 million in donations since its inception. An endowment initiated in 1998 will ensure the school will continue to have financial backing for years to come.
