Roosevelt Elementary School in Arkansas City, Kan., is in the Arkansas City school district and has an enrolment of almost 300 students and one teacher per 19 students. A fifth of its students are non-white and include Hispanic, Black and Native American students. Classes start from pre-kindergarten and go up to grade five and childcare is provided. There are special coaching classes after school in some courses. Parent and teacher meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month.
