Youngstown State University is an educational institution that provides a variety of certificate, associate, baccalaureate and graduate programs for students. It offers more than 100 subject options, including human ecology, military science, physical therapy, social work, and criminal justice and forensic sciences for undergraduates, as well as over 35 master s programs. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, the institution enrolls nearly 13,000 students. Its campus is spread over a total area of approximately 145 acres and features a library, playgrounds, university-operated residence halls, and recreation and wellness centers. Youngstown State University has more than 120 student organizations and conducts several theater shows, concerts, recitals, lectures and coffeehouse performances. Additionally, it manages a staff of over 1,250 employees.
