Flight Landata ( FLD ) is a small but rapidly growing sensor systems integrator based in North Andover, MA. FLD creates miniaturized, ruggedized state-of-the-art sensor systems for airborne remote sensing. FLD provides engineering and aviation services to a wide range of customers in challenging environments. The company has a long history of success in R&D, often in support of NASA Small Business Innovation Research ( SBIR ) grants. As we grow, our aim is to provide complete sensor solutions customized to each users needs. Products include the Armys BuckEye electro-optical sensor system, as well as various infrared/hyper-spectral sensors and gimbal platforms. We target fixed and rotary wing aircraft, as well as UAVs. FLD integrates these sensors with advanced electronics, mechanical and software processing systems. Our small size and the quick development spirals lead us to make maximal use of COTS technologies, adding in custom hardware and software only where its most valuable. Seeking an engineer to characterize the performance of FLDs products, including their precision, accuracy, and stability. Must have a strong background in electrical engineering and physics, with an interest in sensor calibration and test. Experience in systems engineering tasks ( managing an error budget, performing sensitivity analysis, and optimizing system performance ) is required, as is knowledge of at least one programming language. Experience in feedback control of electromechanical systems is desired. Immediate tasks will involve support to calibration of the BuckEye imaging system to allow direct geo-referencing of its imagery. Longer term tasks include detailed characterization of BuckEye and other FLD sensors, developing an onsite calibration capability ( both laboratory-based and aerial ), and the maintenance and improvement of Buckeye hardware control software. Seeking a software architect to create FLDs future image acquisition/processing, geo-referencing, distribution and display software. A background in distributed computing and imaging processing is required. Near term tasks involve rapid creation of an image development and geo-referencing capability, as well as maintenance and improvement of existing image acquisition software. Longer term, candidate will perform processing hardware selection, interface and protocol selection, and will create an advanced, multi-threaded image processing and distribution software architecture. Candidate must also be adept at conducting technology assessments and describing this information to the rest of the team. Candidate should also be capable of conducting R&D in video processing/indexing and bandwidth optimization for wireless transmission. Experience in evaluating and hiring employees is preferred, as is a demonstrated ability to lead a small team and work in a highly collaborative environment. Seeking a software engineer to develop image acquisition/processing software and related applications. A broad engineering background and interest in developing electromechanical systems is required. Programming skills must include GUI and application programming, particularly for interface with commercial imaging software and Google Earth. Candidate will develop applications to geo-reference and ortho-rectify imagery, perform flight mission planning and navigation, and index/browse imagery libraries. Should be capable of conducting longer term R&D in video processing/indexing and bandwidth optimization for wireless transmission. Successful applicants will demonstrate team-orientation, solid interpersonal skills, and a passion for a broad range of applied engineering subjects. It is beneficial to have a background in electrical engineering, sensor physics, optics, or geospatial information systems. Proficiency in the latest programming technologies and concepts, and aspects of electromechanical system design, construction, and integration is desired. Employees of FLD work in a multi-disciplinary
