Youth Company Chicago offers drama and musical theater classes, providing kids with a solid introduction to theater as well as a space to express themselves creatively, gain self-confidence and make new friends. Summer camps and after school programs are available for kids and teens are available, as are camp sessions that coincide with school vacations. Students participate in the formation and performance of a musical theater piece, and performances are held for family and community members. Workshops for schools are also available.
The Olympian Sports Club, in operation for more than 30 years, provides an athletic outlet for Evanston's youth. Its focus is developing the skills used in sports, playing for fun and good sportsmanship. More than twenty different sports are offered in various venues across the city. Harand Camp, a mainstay in the community since 1955, offers three-week and six-week sessions with free transportation to and from camp. Kids come here to enjoy wonderful music, theatre and performing-arts programs. The camp schedule begins at about 7am and continues until bedtime, which ranges between 8:45pm - 10pm, depending on age. Throughout the day, each camper will take part in acting, singing and dance, and will also enjoy some sports and elective activities. Note: campgrounds are not at this address.
