Plimoth Candy Company is the oldest known candy store in Plymouth. Located on the waterfront, across from the Mayflower II, the shop is open year-round. It carries a great variety of different types of candy, including salt water taffy, fudge, maple sugar candy, chocolate turtles, cranberry candy and homemade clusters. In addition, postcards, souvenirs and ice cream is available.
Plimoth Candy is within walking distance to many other interesting shops, stores and restaurants in the area. It's just minutes away from the highway.
The Wayside Country Store is housed in one of the best-known historical buildings in town, which dates back to the 18th century. Henry Ford bought the store in the 1920s. Today it looks much the way it did when he owned it. There is a general store, which sells gift items, food and collectibles. Attached to the store is an old time candy shop, selling penny candy, specialty candy and chocolates. The store is located on Boston Post Road East.
Beacon Hill Chocolates has a strong commitment to representing authentic chocolate-making techniques from New England and around the world by importing from a wide variety of chocolatiers. The shop carries a wide selection of boxed chocolate sets and truffles, including ingredients and flavors such as blood orange, almond nougat, vanilla French butter cream, and candied ginger. The shop is also known for its keepsake chocolate boxes, which are printed with classic photographs or special-occasion messages, and a customer can create a boxed chocolate set by mixing and matching from the large selection of chocolates.
The Chocolate Truffle is a privately owned chocolatier that specializes in unique and exquisite chocolates. All treats are hand-dipped and hand-rolled in Swampscott. Chocolate Truffle creates and sells chocolate pizzas, chocolate chicken wings, chocolate-covered twinkies and the CB stuffer. Their marshmallow peanut butter cup was featured as Rachel Ray's snack of the day on March 30, 2010.
