Founded in 1951, it operates various companies, including Village Supermarkets, Starn s Markets, Foodarama Supermarkets, Inserra Supermarkets, Glass Gardens, Perlmart Stores and ShopRite Supermarkets. ShopRite is also one of the major sponsors of New Jersey s and Connecticut s Special Olympics Games. All ShopRite owners are members of Wakefern Food Corporation, which buys, warehouses and transports products.
