About Our Hospital Onslow Memorial Hospital (OMH), originally founded in 1944, stands as a 162-bed acute care, community hospital located in coastal North Carolina, serving the city of Jacksonville and greater Onslow County. Onslow Memorial Hospital is nationally accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC). The year 2008 marked the opening of the hospitals new state-of-the-art ER and Surgical Pavilion, the first major step in a multi-phase expansion project. Future expansion calls for a new patient tower to be constructed directly over the ER and Surgical Pavilion. The new Radiation Oncology Center, designed to be nearly 10, 000 square feet, is projected to open in late 2010 or early 2011, and will allow cancer patients needing radiation treatment to stay right here in Onslow County for therapy. The OMH Radiation Oncology Center will have the highest quality linear accelerator and will benefit from a partnership with the Brody School of Medicine, considered to be a world leader in radiation treatment technology. "It is the mission of Onslow Memorial Hospital to provide the people of our community with quality medical services delivered in a friendly, safe, and caring environment." The hospital motto, "Where People Care" is embraced by every employee, in every department. Onslow Memorial Hospital is a national leader (as measured by Professional Research Consultants, Inc, an independent, national healthcare research firm) in several areas of patient satisfaction, including inpatient nursing, as well as the OMH Sleep Disorders Lab and SurgiCare. The wide range of high quality services Onslow Memorial Hospital includes, but is not limited to: Labor and Delivery (with advanced monitoring system), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Newborn Nursery, Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, Emergency Department, Minor Emergency Care Unit, Medical and Surgical Services. In addition, OMH offers a full range of diagnostic services, including the Womens Imaging Center, Sleep Disorders Lab, Heartburn Center, Cardiac Cath Lab, Neurodiagnostic Lab, MRI and CT Scan, as well as our free-standing same-day surgery center, SurgiCare of Jacksonville.
