Paradise Oaks is a nonprofit organization that provides 24-hour residential care for adolescent males who are diagnosed as severely emotionally disturbed. It operates three state-certified schools with individually designed academic and vocational education instruction for its residents. Paradise Oaks also offers foster care programs for children up to 17 years of age, including developmentally disabled children. It receives all of its referrals from the County of Sacramento Social Services.
Sunrise Food Ministry is run by the Advent Lutheran Church. The food closet is for emergency food only and is located in an out-buidling behind the church. Proof of residency in certain zip codes of Citrus Heights and Fair Oaks is required.
The Pacific Justice Institute is a non-profit organization devoted to providing legal recourse and resources in the defense of religious freedom, parental rights and general civil liberties. The Institute provides assistance without charge to individuals, families and churches whose guaranteed civil liberties are in danger. The Institute often deals with high-profile cases featured in the media.
