Formed in 1950, the La Jolla Town Council is an organization that provides a forum for discussion, debate, and action on local issues and concerns. It then advises different levels of government on such issues.  

The Town Council hosts regularly scheduled meetings on the second Thursday of the month at 5pm at the La Jolla Rec Center. It also hosts a variety of other activities including SunSetters, an opportunity for business owners and other community leaders to meet in a social setting.

Friends of La Jolla Library is an organization that seeks to raise monetary support for the San Diego Public Library in La Jolla. It also donates books, magazines and other items, usually received from benefactors of the community. The organization consists of at least 50 members, who together collect thousands of dollars each year to support the library. Members have been known to donate books to several worthy causes in the community, as well, including a local juvenile center.
