The ALS Association is a Milford based non-profit that tries to raise awareness of degenerative disease. It supports and funds efforts to define new and more effective treatments.
The Knights of Columbus are a group of Catholic men who donate their time and funds to those in need. Many fundraisers and benefits are held at the hall throughout the year. The hall is also available to rent on various dates. Bingo is held every Tuesday at 6:45pm.
The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks has been in existence since 1868. It is "committed to the ideals of charity and patriotism" and does a large amount of charitable events and activities. The Milford Elks Lodge is Lodge No. 1589. It holds meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. The Elks have a large parking lot with handicapped parking and a wheelchair ramp. The hall is available for rental. It has a seating capacity of 130 and has a full commercial kitchen and bar service available.
Located in Milford, Bridges acts as a community support system which provides outpatient services for children, adults and families suffering from addiction and mental health issues. Servicing the Milford, Orange and West Haven communities, Bridges offers home-based services, including emergency services, bereavement support, addiction and substance abuse treatment, mentoring programs and more. Bridges is licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health and the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.
Boys & Girls Village serves as a haven and resource for children and families in at-risk situations. This organization runs various programs, including out-patient therapy, foster care arrangement, adoption services and shelter.
This organization's day school program, the Charles F. Hayden school, offers a curriculum steeped in multiple disciplines, emphasizing reading and mathematics. The school serves students from ages 6 to 15.
The Milford United Way partners with and helps support over 20 Milford agencies. Agencies interested in becoming a partner must go through an application process and be accepted.
This branch of the United Way also works with volunteers and organizations, identifies problems within the Milford community and unites to find a solution.

Milford Fine Arts Council is a nonprofit organization that provides Milford and surrounding communities with opportunities to hone their artistic abilities and to gain exposure. The Milford Fine Arts Council offers memberships, which provide members with workshops, weekly events, committees and exhibits. The Milford Fine Arts Council has been around since 1971 and is located directly next to the Milford Railroad.
The Connecticut Audubon Society is a conservation organization that provides environmental education and outdoor activities here at its Coastal Center. This is a picturesque and peaceful place where visitors can climb up the spiral stairs of an observation deck to view birds soaring in the sky or having lunch in a bird feeder. Visitors can walk along a boardwalk toward the water to take photographs of birds, butterflies and plant life. Birthday parties can also be held at the center. No pets, fires, picnics, alcohol, collecting or swimming allowed. Walking on the sand dunes is also prohibited.
The Milford Hospital Foundation is the fund-raising arm of Milford Hospital. This not-for-profit encourages the community to give philanthropic support to the medical institution. Besides seeking donations via direct mail and individual solicitations, the foundation has sponsored various fund-raising events, including a golf tournament, a concert and a dog walk. The foundation is based in the basement of a building across from Milford Hospital. Its entrance is in the rear.
American Legion Post 196 is a civic group of patriotic veterans, which is committed to sponsoring local community programs and initiatives. Post 196 has a youth baseball team in the American Legion Baseball organization and undertakes a variety of other projects. It is a nonpartisan non-profit organization.
Beth-El Center houses a shelter for single men and women and mothers with children and provides a soup kitchen for eat-in lunches and take-out dinners five days a week as well as some weekends. United Way of Milford is a partner with the Combined Parishes Action Committee. When temperatures drop below 32 degrees in the winter, the center provides cots for needy overnight guests from 9pm until 7 am.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Milford is a non-profit outreach program. It offers an after-school club that provides safe and supervised educational, recreational and social activities for children. The club is composed of a game room, gym and computer lab, where the children can engage in activities that help them learn self-identity, respect and civic involvement.
Membership is only $35 a year and scholarships are provided for families that qualify. Children that are not members have the opportunity to "drop in" at $1 per day.
