Golden Opportunities is a nonprofit organization that serves residents of eldercare and retirement communities and caregivers.  The organization helps connect residents of eldercare and retirement communities with caring, compassionate visitors.  

For caregivers it provides respite retreats that enable them to become renewed and refreshed.  

Its overall mission is to enhance the quality of life for peope who are experiencing isolation, loneliness or helplessness. All programs are free.

Sandy Hook Arts Center for Kids (S.H.A.C.K) is a non-profit organization founded for the purpose of providing the children from the community with a healing creative outlet. Children can participate in art, music and pet therapy, individual and group art/music/theatre classes and healing drum circles. Newtown Youth & Family Services (NYFS), a nonprofit agency combining clinical services and youth development programs, provides a continuum of care to residents of all ages in the greater Newtown-area, regardless of ability to pay. The agency opened its doors over 25 years ago and maintains its vision to become a recognized leader in providing mental health and social services and to assist people in achieving their highest potential.

Newtown Youth & Family Services maintains two facilities in town: 15 Berkshire Rd. and 121 Mt. Pleasant Rd.
