Pinellas Opportunity Council is part of the Community Action Partnership, a nationwide network of more than 1,100 agencies designed to combat poverty. Pinellas Opportunity Council offers chore services for the elderly and invalid. Frail Pinellas County residents that are the age of 60 years and older are eligible. Chore service include general cleaning and outdoor yardwork.
This facility houses up to 50 adolescent girls ages 13-18 who have either been placed in the facility by the Florida Department of Children & Families or by parents who need assistance with their troubled daughters. Licensed therapists offer individual counseling and group therapy sessions, and a psychiatrist visits weekly to oversee medication and to provide individualized special counseling. With a staff-client ratio of six to one, the staff monitors the girls 24 hours a day. While in the program, the girls will learn how to problem-solve, money management, and how to get the skills they need to become self-sufficient, contributing members of society. The facility has an extensive "aftercare" program to follow-up with former residence and monitor their progress.
This nonprofit foundation provides volunteer support and charitable gifts to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, a regional referral center for pediatric specialty care.
