Essex Country Education Association is the organization serving public school educators and related staff in Essex County. The ECEA publishes the Essex Exchange newsletter, informs members of pending legislation and organizes events in support of education. The president is Anthony Salese of Belleville, and the vice president is Priscilla Burke from East Orange.
The Wellness, Arts & Enrichment Center is operated by the Jewish Services for the Developmentally Disabled and serves as an alternative learning center for those with disabilities. With numerous classes and workshops, the center provides students with an opportunity to express themselves creatively and make friends. Arts and enrichment courses include painting, poetry and creative writing, book clubs, speaking circles, meditation and much more. Classes also include a number of health and wellness courses, such as yoga, nutrition and lifestyle, and arts classes. Regular events also are conducted here.
This organization includes active, honorary and life members whose shared purpose is to preserve the history of the United States Cavalry and Armored Force, especially that of the military units descended from the 1st Troop and the 102d Regiment, New Jersey National Guard.
The Essex Troop Association awards annual scholarships, which total $3,000. Deadlines and information are listed on the website.
