Ability Center of Greater Toledo is a nonprofit independent living center in Northwest Ohio, serving seven Ohio counties, including Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Williams and Wood. The center assists people with disabilities and provides several core services, including advocacy, community living and information, recreation inclusion and youth and independent living skills. The center also provides adaptive cooking classes, basic budgeting classes, instruction on navigating local public transportation, minor disability-related bathroom modifications, and constructs access ramps for homes. It offers information and referral to local, state and national disability and independent living resources. The center assists in the individualized education plan process for children with disabilities in local schools, and provides leadership training and opportunities to adolescents with disabilities.
