International Mission Board, formerly called Foreign Mission Board, is an entity of the Southern Baptist Convention the largest evangelical denomination in United States. The Southern Baptist Convention has more than 40,000 churches with 16 million-plus members. The board s primary objective is to present the gospel of Jesus Christ in a manner that leads individuals to saving faith in Him, with the intended result being a church-planting movement among the peoples of the world. International Mission Board focuses its services on remote communities, or the more than billion people throughout the world that have little or no access to the gospel. International Mission Board was established in 1845 in Richmond, Va. Since that time, more than 15,000 missionaries have been appointed with more than a third still serving.
