The Lemont Public Library is one of the village's true gems. Utilized regularly by the community, the library features thousands of books, DVDs, CDs and other items as well as a number of services. Aside from the wide variety of materials available for checking out, the library also offers computer classes, book clubs, public events and more.
Highland Park's City Hall is located on Saint Johns Avenue and is the central location for the city's administrative offices. Departments in the building include Fire, Finance, Community Development, Public Works, Planning and the Office of the City Manager. The location also houses boards and commissions such as Historic Preservation, Human Relations, Housing, Business and Economic Development, Cultural Arts and National Resources.
The Wheaton Fire Department Station #2 has three fire lieutenants, seven firefighters and six contract paramedics. The Department is commanded by the main headquarters at 1 Fapp Circle. The Wheaton Fire Department is a member of MABAS Division XII, a statewide mutual aid program which allows for fire departments to assist each other during major incidents. Equipment ranges from basic items including hoses, ladders, axes and pike poles, to advanced items such as thermal imaging cameras and breathing units.
