The Town of Stonington Tax Collector's office is responsible for the collections of local taxes including real estate, personal property and motor vehicle. Real estate and personal property taxes are due July 1 and January 1 each year. Motor vehicle taxes are due July 1. This office also manages and coordinates the taxpayer guide and various other forms.
The Stonington Borough Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for the preservation and enhancement of the borough through zoning regulations. The office is located in the Borough of Stonington Hall on Church Street. The borough assessor, administrative assistant and clerk are also housed here. Planning and Zoning Commissions are held at Borough Hall on the second Tuesday of each month.
The Town of Stonington Assessor Office is responsible for determining the value of all property in the Town of Stonington and any applicable assessment exemptions. The Assessor Office maintains and records property sale information, aerial property maps and town boundary information. Marsha Standish, the tax assessor, oversees the office, which is located in town hall.
