City Hall houses the majority of city offices and departments, including the offices of the mayor, city manager and city attorney, and the departments of finance, planning and human resources, among others. The City Council's chambers are also located here. Council meetings are held the first and third Monday of each month, and are open to the public. The Board of Supervisors for the San Leandro Unified School District also meets in the chambers. Meetings are usually held bi-monthly on Tuesdays and are open to the public.
A one-stop permit center, with information and forms, is open to the public on the first floor of City Hall.
This is the nearest Social Security Administration branch for San Leandro residents. It provides applications for Medicare, disability and other benefits, as well as access to other services provided by the government organization.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Substation is located on the corner of 150th and Foothill Boulevard. The mission statement reads: "Since 1853, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office has protected life and property while providing humane treatment to those in custody." The Alameda County Emergency Services Dispatch is the 9-1-1 response unit for the unincorporated areas of San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland, Hayward, Castro Valley, Sunol, Pleasanton and Livermore. The unit also contracts dispatch services for the City of Dublin and Dublin Police Services, along with AC Transit Police Services, Animal Control, Camp Parks Federal Police and several other nearby police services. The unit handles all 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency telephone calls.
State Senator Ellen Corbett (D-San Leandro) represents District 10, which includes the southern part of Alameda County and parts of Santa Clara County. The majority leader for the 2011-12 session, the senator has a district office in Fremont as well as this one in San Leandro, located on MacArthur Blvd. near the I-580 Dutton St. off ramp.
