The Livingston Planning Board considers land use issues. The particular “look and feel” of Livingston is determined in large part by the pattern of land use development. When making decisions, the Planning Board seeks to protect the natural, cultural and economic resources of the Township.
The Planning Board plans and regulates land use by preparing and adopting a master plan, and then by implementing the zoning ordinance approved in conformance with that plan. As empowered by the Municipal Land Use Law (NJSA 40:55D-1 et seq.), the Planning Board regulates residential and non-residential development.
The Livingston Building Office assists in construction-related issues for residents or commercial contractors seeking to initiate construction within the township.
The Building Office responsibilities include compliance with all state and local ordinances and procedures regarding construction, in particular in providing guidance on the building permit process.
