The Renton Community Services/DSHS is located next to the Renton Library. A variety of services are offered includingTemporary Assistance for Needy Families, Working Connections Child Care, General Assistance Unemployable, Child Support Services, Medical Assistance Programs, First Steps Program, Refugee Cash Assistance, Washington Basic Food Program, DSHS Emergency Programs, ADATSA Program, Family Planning program, and Voter Registration Assistance. Requests for help may be made in person or online.
A seven-member council forms the legislative arm of the city's government. Each member serves a four-year term and is elected by the community. The Renton City Council is charged with the adoption and enforcement of all city ordinances. The council meets during the first four Mondays of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
