The City of Lees Summit Public Works Department maintains and improves streets, streetlights , traffic signals, and drainage, water, sewer and sanitation systems. It also oversees a program of major improvement projects, known as capital projects. Additionally, the department is responsible for repairs and routine maintenance of city buildings, equipment and vehicles and rights of way. The City of Lees Summit Public Works Department provides engineering assistance to other city departments. The department is divided into engineering and operations groups. It is additionally responsible for the privatization agreements that provides residents with water and sewer service and garbage pick up.
