The Veterans of Foreign Wars - Old Ft. Harrison Post 2473 has a more than 75-year tradition. The VFW is a veterans' rights group and has helped establish the Veterans Administration, the GI Bill and the national cemetery service. Members across the country volunteer more than 11 million hours throughout the year and contribute 2.5 million dollars in college scholarships. This particular post holds meetings once a month and offers Bingo Night for member enjoyment every Thursday.
The Cove Cay Clubhouse Pub & Grill is located across from the Pro Shop in the Cove Cay Villages off Highway 19. Members, residents, golfers and the public are welcome. The hours vary daily, so be sure to call before you go. Breakfast is served on Sunday starting at 9am. Weddings and banquets can be accommodated for up to 250 people. Visitors must enter either on Highway 19 or on Haines Bayshore and go through the guarded gate. Outdoor seating overlooks Tampa Bay and might be a very special place for a very romantic evening or hanging out with friends.
The earliest history of the Clearwater Lodge dates to 1891. Its charter as a member of the Free and Accepted Masons dates to January 20, 1892. The chapter meets at 7:30pm the second and fourth Tuesday each month.
