First established in 1869, Walnut Creek United Methodist Church is a community-oriented Methodist congregation dedicated to serving the families of Walnut Creek and Contra Costa County. It is Walnut Creek's first established church and is led by Senior Pastor Eileen Lindsay. In addition to Sunday's worship service and children's programs, Walnut Creek United Methodist provides the members of its congregation with several church ministries during the week, including Disciple Bible Study classes, Stephen Ministry support groups, Healing Touch therapy meetings, and a youth group. Walnut Creek United Methodist also has a strong music and arts ministry with a sanctuary and children's choir, hand bell choirs and an instrumental ensemble.
In keeping with Methodist doctrine, Walnut Creek UMC supports a number of local and global mission efforts including Harvest Table, Project SHARE, the Bosnian Youth House, and the Sierra Service Project. St. Paul's Episcopal Church provides several programs for church and community members.
