The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks is a nationwide fraternal organization established in 1868. It has more than 1 million members and more than 2,000 locations throughout the United States. The Elks is also a charitable foundation that gives away millions of dollars each year toward scholarships, youth programs, drug awareness programs and veterans' programs.
The Encinitas Elks Lodge offers plenty of activities for its members, including weekly dinners, daily happy hours, special-event parties, pool tournaments and Bingo. The lodge can be rented to nonmembers for business meetings or family events.
American Legion Post 206 is Highland Park's local American Legion branch. American Legion Post 206 features a 200-person capacity dance hall for private rental or for live music gatherings. West Valley Flying Club is a nonprofit school offering flight instruction. Since 1973, it has taught more than 10,000 members how to fly 65 different models of airplanes. There is an experienced team of more than 50 qualified trainers offering classes for novice and advanced pilots. The school offers 100% insurance coverage and three free FAA-approved seminars, as well as skydiving, camping trips and skiing.
Founded in 1968 at the site of the Warner Ranch, the Calabasas Golf & Country Club is a private club offering golf and banquet facilities.
Oasis is a private community, built around 662 homes. The country club is home to 18 holes and all the modern practice facilities that go with the game. There are also 18 pools and spas on site.
