This association is dedicated to education about, and preservation of, the Brandywine Valley watershed, and making sure the Brandywine is going to be here for generations to come. It hosts field trips, visits schools, and offers workshops, as well as arranging summer camps out of the Myrick Conservation Center for children ages 4-15. Operating since 1945, this is the first small watershed association in America, and plays a large part in keeping our area beautiful.
The West Chester Gun Club is a small trap club. The club offers trap shooting on four-lighted program traps. Shoots include weekly-prize shoots and competitions. The club hosts ATA shoots and it also has a club league. There is a small clubhouse on-site where food is served. The club only accepts cash and non-members are charged $5.00 to use the facilities.
With three pools and plenty of umbrellas to provide shade, this club is a great place to spend a sultry summer day. The main pool has a diving board and a water slide, and there is also a lap pool and a baby pool. In addition, the club has a volleyball court, a full size basketball court and an area for playing wall ball. A shady picnic area with grills and picnic tables is a perfect place to prepare lunch or dinner. Wedgewood is a bonded, member-owned club.
The Exchange Club Family Center in West Chester is one of 800 clubs located in the United States and Puerto Rico. This location was established in 1946 and stands for community service, Americanism and serving the youth. The Exchange Club Family Center itself gives families dealing with child abuse the opportunity to speak with professionals to get help. It also partners with other organizations like the Salvation Army and Adopt-a-Highway.
This neighborhood club for private parties offers drink specials and music. The upper floor of the club, Clarence Mitchell Hall, is available for private parties.
The Elks Banquet Facility has rentable space for a number of occasions. The facility is broken into two rooms -- the ballroom and the jolly corks room -- and they can accommodate between 35-150 guests. A wedding reception package is available and includes hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, coffee, tea, dinner rolls, vegetables, two entrees, fresh fruit cocktail or soup, tossed garden or Caesar salad and more.
