Decker Coal Company, located in the coal-rich northern Powder River Basin, Mont., is managed by Kiewit Mining Group, a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation. Established in 1970, the Decker Coal mine continues to be a very productive surface coal facility. Since 1970, the mine has yielded more than 365 million tons of high-energy, low-sulfur coal. Annually, the mine produces more than 8.5 million tons of coal mined mainly from the Anderson, Dietz 2 and Dietz 3 geologic formations. At Decker, KMG employs industry-leading mining methods, including design software and Global Positioning Systems, for the efficient production of a high-quality product. Draglines, electric and hydraulic shovels, graders, dozers and haulers move more than 30 million cubic yards of earth per year. For more than 60 years, Kiewit Mining Group has been one of North America s premier producers of high-quality, high-energy coal. The group owns or manages coal mines in Montana, Wyoming and Texas, and conducts mining operations for a clay mine in Mississippi.
