Jim and Patty Roberts have been making great coffee and pastries since 1974 when they set up their coleman stove at Eugenes Saturday market to try to work their way through school. By night they made baklava, by day they made great coffee. School finally came to an end. Then came Coffee Man in 1976 and finally Coffee People in 1983. What a long strange trip its been, but the coffee and pastries are better than ever...maybe practice does make perfect! Now, sons Patrick and Saul and daughter Myra join them to continue a family tradition. Our Business One of Northeast Portlands most comfortable living rooms, our family hosts friends and neighbors each day from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m, except Sunday when we open at 8 a.m. We bake your favorite cookies, cakes and snacks, you eat them, we make your favorite coffee drinks, you drink them, and together we wash it all down with laughter, conversation, love, arguments, tea, coffee, and maybe just the fun of being together for a little while. Jim and Patty may be a couple of the oldest baristas in town but they are ably assisted by attractive young people who know what theyre doing. We are the original "Coffee People" and we still treasure, preserve, and produce Portlands most delightful recipes for great coffee drinks, such as the fresh orange Mocha Borgia, the delightfully "arch" Adult Mocha, the sophisticated yet sensuous, "Soviet Mocha", a drink "only a moron would reject" the spicy yet delicate, "Habanero Mocha" (packed with vitamin C), our own beloved Caramel Fudge mocha flooded with richy buttery caramel, and the nutty but nice Peanut Butter Fudge Mocha.
