Founded in 1960, the Puerto Rican Family Institute is a nonprofit, multiprogram, family-orientated health and human service agency. The institute offers a range of social and health care services, including mental health treatment, crisis intervention, placement prevention, residential care and education. Its programs operate in the United States and Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rican Family Institute provides a variety of foster care and case and blended care management programs, including the Bushwick Child Placement Prevention Program and Brooklyn Mental Health Clinic in New York. In addition, the institute offers school-based and Head Start programs. It operates over 20 programs located throughout New York, New Jersey and Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rican Family Institute is supported by the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, Avon Foundation, Wyckoff Medical Center and Hispanic Federation.
