Established in 1968, Lawrence Hall of Science, also known as LHS, is a resource center that fosters understanding and enjoyment of science and mathematics for people of all ages. It communicates science to the public through exhibits, instructional materials, professional development and public programs. Lawrence Hall of Science has conducted numerous federal, state and privately funded projects, including the Full Option Science System, Science Education for Public Understanding Program and Great Explorations in Math and Science. The center s division coordinates the efforts of several large grant-funded initiatives and provides customized professional development experiences to individual schools based on their particular needs. Lawrence Hall of Science employs more than 360 people and maintains its headquarters in Berkeley, Calif.
