The University of Maryland Forage Research Farm has been in Ellicott City since 1991. On the farm, faculty and students of all levels work together with the commercial horticulture industry on issues related to hay, corn silage and pastureland.
The Howard County Extension of the University of Maryland offers education to the public in agriculture, crop and animal production, nutrition and family resources, gardening and horticulture. In addition, it features programs on 4-H development, farm fairs and livestock shows. Partnered with both the Howard County government and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as well as the University of Maryland, the Howard County Extension is dedicated to providing citizens of Howard County with the education and skills they need to make healthy food and food-growing choices for their families.
