St. John the Evangelist School is a pre-K (3-years-old) to 8th grade school located immediately behind the main church building. The school's principal, Sister Kathleen Lannak, heads the school that includes instruction in earth sciences, literature, and Spanish, among other subjects. A test is required, but the school has an 100 percent acceptance rate.
The Academy of Professional Barbers and Hairstylists is a Barber school to train people to be barbers and hair stylists in Maryland. It is also open to the public providing services such as hair cutting, scalp massages, shaving, beard trimming, styling, waving, coloring, wigs and hair replacement systems. It also offers $5 hair cuts.
The Academys curriculum is flexible depending upon a students desire and financial ability. We offer private classes with various musical instruments: piano, violin, flute, trumpet, among others, as well as with music theory and music history lessons.
All private classes are geared to the psychological comfort of students based on individual abilities of learners & and provided by professional musical staff.
The school is affiliated with the International Associations for Musically Gifted Children, Inc. (IAMGCI) which helps children, ages 3 to 18, as well as adults students to participate in most advanced internationally recognized program from Pre-K through 12th grade.
Our veterans serve our country and fight to protect our borders and when they return home they need adequate employment. The Veterans Employment Service of Montgomery County does just that. Ensuring the employment of veterans, the employment agency's main goal is to aid veterans seeking job positions in order to support their families. As the only Catholic church in Colesville, St. John the Baptist serves as the community's focal point. St. John the Baptist seeks to develop a spirit of Christian community and ministerial outreach in the Catholic tradition. St. John the Baptist has several ministries, including youth and athletic, social justice concerns, and a Parish School, which has courses for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
