Citrus Heights' parks and recreation services are managed by the Sunrise Recreation and Park District.
The district oversees 19 parks within the city, which amounts to more than 260 acres. Parks within the city have different amenities including picnic areas, playing fields, play areas and pools. They also oversee parks in the Antelope and Foothill Farms areas.
In addition to managing local parks, the district also runs the recreation department, which offers adult and children sports leagues, day care and preschools, classes and senior programs. The recreation guides are available here.
They also host many community events such as Sunday FunDay and the Citrus Heights Community Camp Out.
The Citrus Heights Community Center is operated by the City of Citrus Heights. The community center offers facilities for rent for private parties, banquets and other special occasions. Its facility can accommodate up to 966 guests. An on-site commercial catering kitchen also is available. The center is home to the senior center and teen center.
Christ The King Passionist Retreat is situated on a large, peaceful grounds secluded from the rest of the community by trees and foliage. The site was designed to promote the spiritual growth of visitors and with its walking paths, creeks and animals, provides the perfect opportunity for visitors to relax and contemplate. The facilities include a chapel designed in 19th century Spanish California style, a dining room with two full time chefs, 67 private rooms each with its own bathroom, several meeting rooms and conference halls. The grounds are used for marriage retreats, engagement retreats, AA meetings, 12-step retreats, holiday celebrations and prayer gatherings.
